ABOUT US

Liza Kuritsky, LCSW

Director

I believe that therapy is about the process by which we work together to untangle and reweave connections from past to present to better understand ourselves  and how we’ve gotten here. I operate from a relational approach, with an emphasis on relationships  and attachments in one’s life, as well as utilizing the therapeutic relationship as a place of exploration. I believe that therapy can feel energizing as we work toward releasing tension and letting go of the burden of unwanted “stuff”. I am a warm and empathic listener and while I take my work seriously, do approach things with a sense of levity, ease, and at times, humor. I use an eclectic mix of approaches, including therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)  and dynamic processes, depending on individual need.

I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), as well as a registered telehealth provider in Florida. I am an honors graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. I completed post graduate training at the Stephen Mitchell Relational Center and am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I work predominantly with adults and couples. In addition to my clinical work, I am an adjunct professor at the Columbia School of Social Work

My therapeutic philosophy draws from a variety of disciplines, including a relational and psychodynamic perspective based on empathy, compassion, and collaboration.

My style is dynamic and interactive while also acknowledging the unique needs of each individual. I believe the therapeutic relationship can lead to insights, healing, and change. I see my role as a collaborator, here to explore, challenge and understand your concerns in a safe and supportive environment. Together arriving at greater personal insights with the goal of living a more joyful and fulfilling life.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker based in New York City with over ten years of experience following my graduation from the Silver School of Social Work at NYU. I regularly participate in training and seminars at the Stephen Mitchell Center for Relational Studies and am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I am committed to a holistic approach to psychotherapy and am trained in mindfulness-based practices and am a trained yoga teacher. I work with adults and couples of all ages and backgrounds. I have a special interest in working with immigrants, adult children of immigrants, and those new to the US facing adjustment issues

Charlotte Gutman, LMSW

As a psychotherapist, my goal is to help make sense of the world around you and achieve greater fulfillment in life. I am here to help you navigate complex issues and feel less alone in the pursuit of balance. Through a combination of therapeutic approaches, we will examine your challenges, illuminate your strengths, and make strides toward your goals. My work is grounded in the concept that the past informs the present and that looking at formative experiences in one’s history can clarify current circumstances. I am also trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as internal family systems, which we will use to explore how the different parts of you can conflict with one another and cause internal struggle.

I provide a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental space where we can be curious together and face the road ahead. And while I take my work in this field very seriously, I find it useful to bring humor into the treatment when appropriate. I am dedicated to helping people develop an accepting relationship with themselves and I welcome your call for a consultation to see how we may work together.

I am a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker and an honors graduate from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. I also hold a certificate in family and couples’ treatment from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.
